Dear Members
As you may have seen, Tennis Australia has decided to cancel all competition and league tennis by its members associations and affiliates with immediate effect, as a pre-caution to prevent the spread of COVID-19.  Tennis West and Nedlands Tennis Club are impacted by this cancellation. The Tennis Australia announcement is copied below.
Unfortunately this means all junior and senior league tennis is cancelled including the upcoming finals.
The Committee has considered the position in relation to club’s planned  tennis events and reached the following decisions:
  • Saturday social tennis including today (Mar 14) is cancelled until further notice.
  • The Veteran’s Round Robin Men’s and Women’s doubles event planned for Sunday 15 March is cancelled.
  • Friday Junior Club is cancelled until further notice.
  • The continuation of the Club Championships finals will be subject to a future decision, after consultation with the players involved
  • The Club remains open for coaching, members and visitor play, however we ask that everyone complies with the guidelines below to reduce risk of COVID-19 transmission.

The Committee has temporarily introduced the following rules governing access to the Club.
Admission  to NTC courts and facilities by members and non-members, including coaches and their clients
  1. If you are showing any of the following symptoms  do not use the Club – elevated temperature, cough, sneezing, shortness of breath
  2. If you have been in close contact with anyone  confirmed with COVID-19  do not use the Club for a period of 14 days
  3. If you have been in close contact with anyone who is being tested for COVID-19 and waiting on test results – do not use the Club until advised of test results. If the test is positive follow rule 2
  4. If you have travelled to a banned travel country or in close contact with someone who has travelled to a banned travel country do not use the Club for a period of 14 days.

For those who are playing at the Club or visiting the Club’s facilities the following precautions are strongly recommended:
Recommended hygiene  precautions
  • Wash hands and/or use hand sanitizers frequently
  • Avoid touching face and eyes
  • Cover up if coughing and/or sneezing to protect others
  • Avoid handshakes, hugs or other close personal contact
  • Try to maintain 1 m spacing from others wherever practical

We apologise to those who have had their plans disrupted, however we are sure everyone appreciates that Tennis Australia and NTC need to put player welfare ahead of other considerations.
